The hood is the same size. The hood arrived with a small dent on the front edge, right of center. My wife thought it was barely noticeable so I installed it. I saw him every time I walked past him for about 2 weeks. Then it seemed to disappear. I was just thinking about it for this review. I think the shipping box may not have been designed to work with UPS. After turning off the switch in the socket that powered the old extractor hood, the new power connection was simply stripped and attached to the existing plug. Please note that the hood is designed for hard wiring when delivered. If you have a new device that is designed to be plugged into an outlet, a plug adapter must be purchased separately. The air was recirculated in the old hood. I installed new ventilation through the roof because I like to make projects as complex as possible. The vent holes are securely fastened. It took enough force to knock them out, causing the top of the hood to warp. After installation it is not noticeable. For roof ventilation, the supplied black plastic interior ventilation cover must snap into place on the outside of the hood. I managed to get to the air duct to install the plastic cover in the vent. I found the black plastic on the front of the hood ridiculous. From a height of 6 feet, the hood looks sleek. From a height of 5 feet, the lower part appears unfinished. This was not a breach of the terms of the contract. Keep this in mind as there are options with a stainless steel finish on the bottom. All in all it was a cheap, easy and effective upgrade to our new lights.
