For reasons unknown, Ford decided to put a timer in the battery of our 2010 Fusion Hybrid that counts exactly 10 years and then partially disables and degrades the battery. Our battery was and still is fine, especially since it has built-in bypass and failover circuits to avoid using failed cells, but the hybrid functionality didn't work properly. We no longer had good pickup from a stop or when merging into traffic, and mileage was significantly reduced as the petrol engine was running all the time instead of cycling on and off; Hybrid acceleration on flats or hills was also absent. Well, I found out about this watch on a forum and our machine was built exactly 10 years before it was made. So I bought this interface and used it with the software I got off the internet and reset this clock to essentially 'new'. The machine immediately earned the same as before, "like new”. Now we just have to decide what to do as we approach the next 10 year mark.
