They have the same color quality as the originals and are actually washable. He's having a hard time finding the part of the tip he's using to draw what he intends to do and he's really frustrated but maybe 3 is too young for the tip of the chisel. My only complaint is that the caps are really difficult to remove. It can open every other marker we've ever had (that's most markers, even permanent markers) on its own, but not this one. As a result, he doesn't use them that often and some of the magic has been muted.
