Review on Panaracer GRAVELKING Aramid Black Brown by Keith Aluguvelli

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Impressive - 40mm on tires and tubes

love update. 28 -> 40mm. So far over 400 miles - approx. 80% asphalt, 20% gravel. I haven't tried other 40mm gravel tires so can't compare them. Pros: - Much more convenient! Capable of operating at a pressure lower than 28mm. Cracks in the asphalt and bumps in the gravel are less noticeable. Usually do 55psi on tarmac and 40 on gravel tread. I originally bought this tire based on performance feedback. There is almost no increase in rolling resistance, if any! After hundreds of miles, the rear grips are a bit worn; more than half life left. The grip is still sufficient. Noise. A little louder than slicks, but not by much. I expected more noise. Cons: - Difficult to apply rims, although not large - Some reviewers mentioned the softness of the rubber. I can't say anything about that, there were no serious cuts or punctures. Guess the SK+ rating works. Absorbs more dirt and water. Since it has a small tread, only small particles are picked up. Recommend frame protection and/or fenders. Overall better handling, good grip and durability. Have to see how long the tread lasts!

Pros
  • Advanced Extra Alpha Cord, AX technology uses an extremely narrow cord woven into an ultra high density sheath to ensure lightness and flexibility, increased density and cut and abrasion resistance to increase
Cons
  • durability
