Good for my purposes in bed, but I'm slim and my laptop is 11" and light. I have a male waist of about 32 inches and if you are much bigger it will not fit you, I would say max 36 but I am not sure. My waist is about the size of a typical college student, pretty normal to say the least, and sits directly above me with no space on either side, not like a wide breakfast tray. This thing is easy to lift with my laptop. no problem with that. Adjusting the arms is easy, just press the black button on the side of the legs and move them. Seems strong enough. I only save it when I'm not using it. I like the 2 black protrusions on the front as I could rotate them and so instead of 2 big black protrusions there are 2 triangular protrusions. Overall it's a fairly thin piece with a subtle curve. a piece of metal wrapped around a piece of poster board, primarily for a stand. Works and exactly what I wanted. However, I use it with an S-shape, so I'm slim again. So if you have a big belly, the S-shape can make it unstable, so look for a version with a more arched leg. piece, then this S one, but I don't know, just saying.
