Review on πŸ§€ Cuisinart Boxed Grater, Black: A Must-Have Kitchen Essential in One Size by Tammy Chavez

Dangerous. the best of graters

I've never complained about the cutting tool being too sharp and I hold my knives like scalpels; I'm used to sharp tools in the kitchen, but there's a difference between really sharp tools and just ragged ones. A corner of the top of this grater had such rough edges that I had to smooth it out with a file after cutting myself while holding the handle. The coarse grater is convenient to use, but the fine side is covered with rough, perforated edges that are difficult to clean as items get stuck in sharp corners and cracks, and also grind up anything you try to clean it with. I bought this to replace my old box grater which is just wearing out after years of faithful service. He was wonderful, predictable, easygoing to the end of his life and never bit me back. This one is less friendly. The aforementioned thin side tears into flesh at the slightest touch. Not only is it useless because it's so difficult to clean, it's just as dangerous as a red-bellied piranha waiting for an unsuspecting finger to get close. I've never had a kitchen tool so perfect for inflicting injury without provocation. Add to that the rusty details, and I wouldn't recommend it unless you're just treating it with chain gloves and looking for extra iron oxide in your grated parmesan, along with other stale bits lurking in the cracks after dodging the last cleanup attempt. Beware.
