Review on Honeywell TH115 AF GA Radiant Programmable Thermostat by Mike Rice

I gave the seller a 5 star rating. The product gets 4 stars because the original unit (same model but bought and installed by a refurbishment company) lasted less than 6 years. This is double the warranty period but I feel like an item like this should last longer. Otherwise the thermostat is easy to use, has a good range of programming options and works well. The display of the original device was blank. After making sure there was power to the unit I bought a replacement which also died. The seller sent a nice email (via Revain) to thank us for the purchase and to say that we should contact him if there were any problems. So I contacted them to ask about troubleshooting the device. All staff were busy so I left a message. Mark, the owner, called back quickly. He was very professional, friendly, patient and helpful. As it turned out, I connected the block the same way as the old one, but the wiring diagram has changed. Note to self: Always read the instructions. I actually read the manual, but I read the old manual I pulled out of the filing cabinet while troubleshooting the original unit. Second note to self: make sure you're looking at the right manual. However, if I've been paying attention, the circuit diagram is also on the back of the device. I didn't look at it closely because I had already read the (wrong) instructions. So if you're buying this as a replacement, BEWARE! This must be a common problem because Mark figured it out right away. Problem solved with the courteous help of Mark. Thanks very much!
