Does NOT work with old HDTVs!

From the reviews it seems that the purchase to connect my 2017 MacBook Pro to my 2014 55 inch HD RCA TV was easy - WRONG! This adapter is broken by HDCP 2.3 - it ONLY works with HDCP 2.3 devices and HDCP 2.3 is NOT backward compatible! It is a verbose way of saying that when I connected it to my 2014 RCA HDTV an error message appeared on the screen saying "NOT COMPATIBLE WITH HDCP 2.2 AND EARLY DEVICES" and there is no picture or sound. This does not work with older (before HDCP 2.3) devices! I had to send it back.
