Review on Red Heart Wrap Yarn Western by Carla Anderson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Thinner than expected

The product itself is great, but shopping online makes it difficult to understand everything about it a product . It was one of those moments, this yarn is definitely a lightweight toe/sock yarn. I bought it for a cloth that suggested using 4.0mm/US6 needles and ended up using 2.75mm/US3 needles. I make socks with 2.25mm/US1 or 2.75mm/US2 needles, but if I were to make socks from them I would have to use 2.0mm/US0 or less. the average yarn count for fingers and sock, but I didn't count. Normally 100g of sock yarn is 350-450 meters long. Double that because It A Wrap is 200g which is 700-900 yards and this one is 1100 yards. I realize I'm comparing wool to a cotton-acrylic blend, but the difference in weight per meter isn't that big. I already have plans to buy another yarn for another project. I liked the colors too!

Pros
  • Gauge: 30 sts, 40 rows = 4 inches, gauge 2.75mm, US 2 needles
Cons
  • Not as thick as other patterns
