This is a really great starter kit. I've played with several different balls and racquets and learned a thing or two about both. Racquets come in different lengths/widths, weights and grip circles. Some have a shorter but wider head, while others are longer and narrower. Smaller players may need a longer racquet for longer reach, taller players may need a shorter racquet for more movement speed. These paddles are 16 inches long including a 5 inch handle that sits closer to the center of the road. The maximum overall length allowed is 17 inches and the shortest I've seen is 15.5 inches. I have a 15.5 inch model incl. 5. "Handle" is too short for me. The extra length of these blades really makes a difference. Strangely all 4 blades I have are the same width. The ideal grip circle depends on the size of your hand. To get the correct circumference, measure from the tip of the ring finder to the second line in the center of your palm. The circumference of these grips is 4.25 inches. The grip is smooth plastic (feels like silicone), although I prefer the textured grip. However, the grip is a bit spongy, so you still have good control. the less control (read finesse) you have as well. The weights seem to vary. at 7.7 ounces I personally find that a comfortable weight. The weight really comes down to personal preference. The balls in this set have more bounce than others I've used. I like them because they don't die that often on impact. Overall I am very happy with this set. I have a few other blades, one with a more textured handle, which I prefer, but the extra length of the head and action of these blades make me choose these.
