Amazing results for a cpu removal/reclosure app

I took a chance to buy this product when there were no user reviews (maybe this is the first real review) and I for my first instant gratification needed CPU removal (i7-7700K). Based on my overclocking research, I wanted to buy the Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut or Coollaboratory Liquid Pro liquid metal products, but both had long delivery times and Silver King took 1 to 2 days to ship. I'll admit I was a little skeptical about what I got, but the product came in a hard pack containing 2 microfiber swabs, a brush, an alcohol swab and a syringe nozzle for easy application of the recommended small drop amount of liquid metal thermal pastes. . (even less than thermal paste). After removing the heat spreader (IHS) from the CPU using the Rockit 88 Delid/Relid Tool (another great product), I used Silver King for the die-IHS interface. It's easy to squeeze out too much, but you can just suck the excess back into the syringe. The material applied fairly easily: I used the flat end of the swab and found that when I pressed lightly on the stamp to "color" it, it stuck and spread well (same for IHS) . After re-closing it, I've decided to use Gelid GC Extreme thermal compound when reinstalling the CPU cooler (Noctua U14S) as liquid metals are of concern (electrical and corrosive) to your motherboard. were still pretty amazing. Initial results showed the processor was idle within 20 seconds compared to an average of 30 seconds and under load at 4.8GHz the chip never got hotter than 60 seconds compared to 79-80 seconds before (with some instability) . I've always tried to overclock to 5.0GHz and figured I'd lost the silicon lottery - lo and behold, I go into the bios and crank the voltage up a bit, set the cpu multiplier to 50, reboot and <bang !> The system runs like a champ, running through the Stress Intel Burn and Real Bench benchmarks at 5.0GHz without going over 65C. Now let's see how far I can lower the core voltage to achieve even cooler temperatures (fans used to roar at full load). - Calm now! tl;dnr : Recommended for an idle CPU.

Pros
  • Good product for its price
Cons
  • weak
