Review on SVBONY Red Laser Collimator: Perfect Alignment for your Newtonian Marca Telescope by Jesse Nell

A great collimation tool when collimating a laser!

After buying my Orion XT10g and waiting for it to arrive, I knew I had to order a good laser collimator. This one seemed a perfect fit in every way as it included a 2" to 1.25" adapter, brightness adjustment and best of all, this collimator has it's own collimation adjustment screws. Two of these are sealed with silicone plugs (which need to be pryed out with a paperclip or something similar), and the third is under a warning label. Before using this device, you must ensure that the projected beam is on the same axis as the housing. To test this, you'll need to find, craft, or buy some V-Blocks - or a large, heavy book half open might do the trick. The goal is to project the beam onto a wall at least 6 feet away and gently rotate the collimator in place to ensure the spot doesn't wander around. We warn you that some adjustments will be required. I knew this would happen, which is why I'm not taking a star off this product. After a while I was able to slightly adjust the 3 screws on the barrel to correct the beam collimation to a level I found acceptable. I'm sure I could spend many hours playing around with it. Once the laser is aligned, you can use it to collimate your telescope with amazing accuracy and convenience. I was amazed at the visual improvement in the eyepiece after scope collimation. The 7 brightness levels are also a great feature. In the dark I use it on the lowest setting.
