Review on Premium Quality Caran D'ache Set of 20 Pastel Pencils - Unleash Your Creativity! by Carol Miller

I bought this on a lightning sale so I am not otherwise sponsoring this review/opinion. This is my first set of pastels so I don't know how they compare to others. But I usually use Rembrandt soft pastels so I can compare them. The colors are rich and my set of 20 has a lot of variety. There are light and more natural primary colors. I have attached a sample color chart. The hex barrel feels comfortable in the hand and does not roll off the table, which can damage the core. The cores are much thicker than the average pencil so don't be fooled by the product. I've found that some colors are smoother and easier to blend than others, probably due to the different pigments used. I did find a few colors that seemed to "scratch" more, but I was able to remove this with the included sandpaper. Generally they are a bit harder, not as "chalky", and don't leave much dust behind than my Rembrandts. You also don't need to apply as many layers to get rich colors and blends, so you don't create a lot of dust. Dust only leads to stains.
