Review on 🚲 Panaracer GravelKing Folding Tire, Multiple Options, Black/Brown Sidewall by Jeff Dabney

Looks like a great replacement for the Rene Herse Babyshoe Pass at half the price

These are first impressions but I'm pleasantly surprised. The tread on it is identical to the Rene Herse Babyshoe Pass (I bought 650B x 42 tires). I have an older set of 65B x 38 Gravel Kings and the profile is different with a diamond stripe down the middle. So these 42s have a smoother ride. The brown side panel appears to be painted on or covered in a very thin layer of darker rubber, so it's a bit hackneyed, but looks good. The ride is fairly smooth and traction is excellent. My comparison tires are Babyshoe Pass and SOMA Grand Randoneurs in the same sizes which I gave up because they are flat magnets. but the apartment would be really dirty because you would have to open it and put a hose in it. Both these and somas are very posh, but there's definitely a price (apartments and $$). I think this tire is about the same as the Babyshoe Pass with Endurance carcass. At half price. The first few rides show them to be very similar to the Babyshoe Pass tires I've had before. There are no apartments. I'm happy!

  • Sturdy build
Cons
  • Hard to tell
