My husband recently asked me if I would like to buy nice new pots and pans. He didn't have to ask twice. I haven't cooked in a good pot since I left home 30 years ago. I've finally put together a collection of some old pots my mom didn't want, a $60 T-Fal set my mother-in-law gave me over 20 years ago, and some pans that I bought individually from Target became. I had a lot of scratches on the teflon, which made me nervous. All in all, I had a pan for all occasions and settled in with my hodgepodge of worn-out misfits. My first impression of my new cookware was great and still damn good. The pots are strong, heavy and have a beautiful (almost too beautiful) appearance. They're not too heavy, but heavy enough that you know they're real. The handles are a bit long, which can be inconvenient in a cupboard or dishwasher. Cooking in these pans makes me feel like a professional chef in my own kitchen. I'll probably end up saving money because I want to stay home and cook with these incredible pots and pans. I may never eat out again. First off, these pots and pans cook better than I ever dreamed of. I was pleasantly surprised at how much better my food turned out and that the food even seemed to cook faster. After reading the reviews I was a little concerned that the food would stick. We followed the instructions exactly and had no problems. Even eggs are easily peeled in all directions. And like everything else, it seemed to taste even better. Cooking technology has improved significantly in the last 20-30 years. But I decided to cook sausages without adding fat, because the food was already greasy. They got stuck a lot worse than they should. I got most of the burnout but there were still small brown dots. I wanted my new skillet to be perfect. I followed the instructions to boil water and dish soap on the stove and brown dots appeared (leaving a small hole). I'm still in love with my pans. I still think they are the greatest thing ever. I'm still working on velvet gloves to make sure they stay in perfect condition. It's more about me and my respect for what I've been waiting for so long. I did something this morning that made me give my new, outstanding, best pots and pans 4 stars out of 5. I decided to make easy chili dogs using a $1 can of Hormel Chili. I knew it would be sticky and that I couldn't add oil in advance and that it would be very difficult to clean and could stick and damage my new pan. I reached for my gorgeous new pots and pulled a 30 year old Revere pot out of the closet. It won't be that difficult to clean, and I won't ruin the pot because of it. All in all, these are fantastic pots and pans, but not for the novice cook. And honestly, don't throw away all your old pots. They serve a purpose.
