The sensor cable will melt well below 400F, probably below 300F.

Tried to use this to check oven temperature. About the time the stove hit 325F, I smelled a melting cord. Deleted it right away. Not sure how this can work on 500F+ as the metal sensor is attached to the cable with the same material (vinyl?, pvc?) as the fused cable insulation.
