My magic room! - Security & Surveillance

We have a wonderful large built in pantry that we also use for office supplies and cleaning supplies. When my hands are full of pockets, I usually don't feel comfortable flipping a switch or walking in this dark, windowless room. Intermatic IOS-DOV-DT offered the PERFECT solution in their "busy" option. It's just plain fun to walk into a room (hands loaded or not) and the light will turn on automatically, stay on while I'm there (without moving), and walk away, with this wonder device turning the light off for me. This product comes with instructions in fine print. I immediately went to page -- [.] -- enlarged the font and printed the instructions in PDF format (pages 1-2 in English). Much easier to read with older eyes. VERY IMPORTANT: Turn off the circuit breaker before installation (which meant for us to keep a flashlight for easier man installation as we now didn't have a light source in the pantry). This switch is for INDOOR/DRY areas. It's fun to consider any areas where hands-free lighting would provide great comfort and safety. Here are some of ours just in case it helps your reflections. We were considering installing it in our outdoor barn. Due to the potential humidity and some winds we're getting, we're sticking with our old "motion detector". Lights on and off, on and off, on and off (Will be looking for a less sensitive motion switch for the garage as this is another great spot for hands free access - also all our garage switches are on 2 or 3 first aid kits and 3 - position switches Not sure if this item works with 3 position switches - we didn't find that info) I thought the stairwell is a little dark, but this will trigger the lights in the stairwell (below) and all 4 lights in the upper corridors. (as it was originally wired) - and it would not have caused slight movement - due to our stair back configuration from the top floor down the stairs. For now we are concentrating on small night lights with operation. It is also recommended not to install over a heat source or in a draft as it is sensitive to temperature changes. Pantry with no windows or active exterior doors: great! In this case, my experienced husband's installation is fairly easy, but be aware that this is a small and somewhat awkward cavity to work in. Quite doable. Note: The faceplate of this item is what is known as a "single" (1-switch) switch/box. If you have a large rectangular faceplate and can install it in 2 or 3 switches/boxes). Do you really love fun, safety and the freedom to hop on and off hands-free. Love it!
