Review on 🔌 D-Link 802.11g Wireless Network Kit: 108Mbps Speed, Featuring DI-624 Router and DWL-G650 Adapter by Jose Miller

The card is fine but the router has issues which we went through with hours of trying and calling tech support who knew less about the issue than I did learned myself: 1) Communications are very often lost until you update the firmware on the router. 2) However, if you update to the latest firmware after July 2005, you will encounter other issues as follows: We have an HP Officejet connected to the router via a cable with its own local IP address. With the latest firmware on the router, the router resets the printer's IP address and connection as soon as the printer goes to sleep, which happened to us after 1 hour. The printer doesn't always have to be on to maintain a connection to the router. After some trial and error, I was able to find that when I reverted to multiple versions, the printer never lost connection, even when it went to sleep. 3) WPA and WPA2 wireless don't work properly with this router - either crashes too easily or doesn't connect at all on boot. You must perform a wireless connection repair in the network properties before a connection is established. THIS has been fixed in the latest firmware updates, but there is a previous issue with the network printer. So we have to settle for less WEP encryption. 4) Finally, we have a high speed 10-15Mbps fiber optic internet connection which the router and card handles very well, but recently our ISP is now offering 50Mbps. That's why we signed up for it. A DIRECT WIRED connection to the router gives us speeds of almost 50Mbps, however the router will not transmit anything over 14Mbps for the internet - regardless of whether encrypted WiFi is used. The card and router have 108 Mbps LAN transmission, but cannot handle 50 Mbps wireless Internet access. I've tested this with other G-mode adapters that support 54Mbps and it only measures 13-14Mbps download and upload. I realize most users won't have this issue, but just thought I'd point it out. The day will come when such speeds will become public and this router is not fit for that day.
