Review on Infinity 62IX Coaxial Speaker System by Mike Morris

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not bad - car electronics

Purchased components of the same model. The front components have some strong specs, namely power and 10K more frequency. I just wanted these specs to match the fronts so everything is level. I suspect they don't because they feel they need a selling point for more expensive components. Well compared to some of the rather expensive Pioneers I've had before they really have a lot and utility! The Pioneers cost more and looked just as cool, if not cooler, but were weak in tone and volume even when connected to an amp. I already hear a big difference to the pioneers in these rear areas! Now I find that the Pioneer fronts sounded better than the Kappas components, but I couldn't fit a tweeter in the car. The sound is crisp, clear enough with bass that's audible and clear - no head unit! I will admit that I have the DB set to maximum and you will really lose detail but I will beef it up and that and the fronts should sound a lot better. The standard sound of these speakers offered improvements, but after a while I needed a more consistent sound. In addition, the fronts are calculated higher in the frequency range, but the tweeter sounded a bit muddy in isolation. The pioneers never did that. I hope the amp clears things up. If not, at least it's easy to remove the tweeters and send them in for replacement under warranty. If you want to upgrade stock or use them with an amp, get them. I bought them for an incredibly cheap price, so I'm more than satisfied!
