Unfortunately the net is not thin enough to prevent the tea from floating in the water. Since I originally bought this to make kombucha from organic green tea leaves, it doesn't really work for my purposes. However, I was able to repurpose it to add bay leaves to soups or stews. I wouldn't buy it for that alone, but now that I have it I really appreciate not having to fish for bay leaves and hope I caught them all. Back to tea - I ended up buying nylon webbing. Bag of nut milk and use it instead of tea leaves to brew kombucha. The bag is a lot bigger than I need, but I use an extra one to tie the handle of the pot so I can easily take it out when I'm done. Works very well and keeps all the leaves off my tea.
