I am a professional engineer in the sense that my remote work consumes quite a lot of bandwidth every day (multiple computers with multiple VPNs, many connected devices). Having bought and set up a router a few months ago, I kick myself for not having done it sooner. Not only does it do exactly what I need, I found the RouterOS CLI to be fairly intuitive to learn and use. Metrics are also great for debugging errors and analyzing usage. Looking at the server logs, I found that an IP address in China was trying to log into the SSH gateway I set up. Moments later I had a firewall rule blocking all traffic from that IP address and I was able to visualize how many packets from that source had been dropped. Needless to say, I was impressed with the router's versatility and configurability. For interested buyers, I would recommend considering banking for at least a few hours to get used to the system and get comfortable. One thing that could use some improvement is the documentation, but as long as you take your time and talk about what's going on, everything usually works as intended. However, I suspect that for many users the default configuration will be enough to get you started.
