A metric float valve seat will not work in a 1976 carburetor.
Kit 398 453 is designed for a Johnson Evinrude 76 15hp engine. What does a carburetor have? It starts and maybe you could force it, but chances are you'll ruin your carburetor. It took me a while to figure that out as 5/16 and 8mm are very close. Everything else is fine except there is a small clear plastic sleeve that I don't know where it goes. It cannot be used in 76 15hp. detail no. 398453 is the correct part number. for 76. I believe in 1980 they switched to a different set, or at least a different float and needle valve assembly. The instructions wouldn't hurt.
