Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Dorman 594-021 Engine Harmonic Balancer: Perfect Fit for Select Models by Chad Moser

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not impressed with the quality but works well

I fitted this to my Dodge Dakota 03 (3.9 5 manual transmission) as the old one started to drive, it rusted and the rubber ripped so I decided to replace it . I noticed crankshaft pulley run out on the old balancer because the pulley is a little warped and I can't find a replacement. the wobbling went away with the new balancer, because when I screwed it onto the new balancer, it sat a little crooked on the shaft. That was my goal because although the new balancer is slightly bowed, it reduced pulley wobble, which reduced the outward centrifugal force that is amplified on the pulley as it is farther from the crank and its weight only shifted forward a little and back as the motor spins while still moving outward meaning the outward centrifugal force on the crank is still reduced putting less stress on my bearings and oil pump. It was a cheap balancer and red neck repair, but mission accomplished.
