Review on Hardwired Kidde Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector with Lithium Battery Backup - Interconnect Combination Alarm with Voice Alert by Owoeye Reed

Good alarm, photoelectric sensors less prone to false alarms, user-friendly interface

We had a fire alarm near the kitchen that kept going off while we were cooking. It turned out to be the ionization type so I replaced it with this photovoltaic model and haven't had any problems since. The good thing is that all Kidde smoke alarms (regardless of type) communicate via wire, so they all beep when one of them is triggered. The interface is handy - when you press the button to check, it warns you it's going to be loud (they're not kidding, modern smoke detectors wake the dead), gives you a countdown (cancellable), and then beeps. You'll need a stick to hit it - but the button is big and central, so at least it's a good target for your crazy stick-poking.
