I cannot praise this item enough. We've used a gem mining kit before and it was awful. This one, which I put in my son's Easter basket, was wonderful. The clay was so easy to dig with the tools provided, even to the point where you could just break the clay into pieces. The drawing on the clay was so beautiful - it looked like a big crystal. The gems are great - big, great variety, in abundance. It also comes with a manual showing the different gems and what they are used for. I would buy this item again as a gift or even for a classroom project. My 5 year old son made this in a large bowl and the mess wasn't too bad but it's impossible not to get dirty. The only downside was that he got some dust in his eye, but if you want to prevent that you could maybe just wet the clay a bit. A truly amazing product that has exceeded all my expectations. I'm so glad I chose this set!
