Review on πŸ”₯ Enhancing SDR Performance: Introducing Flamingo AM Notch Filter for Broadcast AM Bandstop Applications by James Maruffo

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A good inexpensive filter for AM broadcasting.

If you need an AM broadcast bandpass filter for either SDR purposes or for test and measurement... This is a good, affordable option. You can do better, but you will spend 5-10 times more money to get better performance. This is a good value product and a good package with a general style of connector to work with. What you need to know about this device: SMA connectors are a bit fragile. If you want to install any adapters on it to convert to Type N or TNC or install a DC unit, you might need to be careful. I managed to snap one off and I need to re-solder it. I successfully repaired my filter with little effort and after that it worked perfectly so no damage was done. The performance of my filter was within the manufacturer specification according to my VNA. I wish the shelf was a bit sharper, but as I said, you have to pay a lot more money for that. will work well to protect your receiver if you are looking for it. You are not allowed to transmit through this filter and it does not pass voltage, so you must install a DC block to protect the filter.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires socket

I needed to filter some noise from an APT receiver. This helped a lot.
