The main usage scenario is when you need a breakdown of vlan by ports, but otherwise a "stupid" unmanaged switch is enough. For the same money (~2k), competitors offer richer functionality. Alas, for my tasks this switch was almost useless. Its pros: If chips of managed switches are not needed, it works out of the box without any complaints. There is a web interface, loop detection, checking if the port is in use. A good choice for personal use. Cons below: There is no mac-address filter, so you can’t bind a mac to a port, preventing everyone else from connecting (yes, this will not protect against an intruder, but it works great from random outsiders), even just a list of mac-addresses visible from the port is not able to display.
