Review on Cuisinart DCC 4000 Coffee Maker Black by Sarah Pullen

I waited a long time after purchasing before writing a review as I know that the coffee maker can fail over time if it is not well made. It's been about 4 months and overall I really like it. Makes a great cup of coffee, easy to set up and program and damn it if it's ugly! As for the design, I have to admit that I enjoy watching it brew as you can see the water being drawn in through the glass carafe and reservoir. in the other half of the car, it's weirdly mesmerizing (or maybe I'm just easy to talk to, lol). But where this baby really shines is in the "blooming" process: At the start of the brew cycle, it first soaks the grounds in super-hot water using a built-in shower head. Why is it so magical? Because it turns your coffee from "good" to "oh god that's good" and reveals the deeper flavor of the ground coffee. This is what I liked best next to the design and why I chose this particular model. Try it with freshly ground beans and thank me later! My only complaint is that the 1-4 cup button doesn't work as the machine still uses all the water in the tank, but it doesn't. I don't really care because if I want less coffee I can always add less water. However, it seems silly to have a button when other than the lighting it doesn't work. Another little thing is the cleaning: my now ex-roommate managed to suck the watery sediment through the pipe into the water tank. And let me tell you, once he gets there, you'll have a heck of a lot of time to clean up this country! So be sure to clean thoroughly and exactly as the manual tells you to. (And when you're preparing to brew, make sure the inner basket is securely latched or you'll get the same backup issues. Just be smart and be careful!) Other than that, the rest of the cleaning is very easy. All in all it's a nice machine that makes great coffee and gets lots of compliments. I may update my review over time if there are any issues, but so far I'm quite satisfied.
