I have been using Colgate Total for many years. I had coughing fits every time I brushed my teeth. The cough eventually turned into full-blown asthma attacks. I did a little research. It was in magazines as early as the 1990s: Some toothpastes cause asthma. There seems to be more than one ingredient that causes asthma. I switched to Tom and no more asthma attacks. The teeth are just as clean.
