Bought this scope because I've always wanted one. My school never had this type of gear (nor did they have computers until I left!) Either way, it's an amazing toy and discovery tool. It's amazing how everything looks even at a lower magnification. House dust, sugar, salt, a drop of water from a pond β this rifle scope masters all of them like a master. Images up to 400x magnification are typically striking and vibrant. With this telescope I resolved objects down to the micron, saw all kinds of life in the pond including diatoms and other algae, tardigrades, worms, tiny crustaceans, book lice, ants and even cyanobacteria. The 100x oil lens offers good illumination and magnification, even with 20x eyepieces. Be careful, spiders are tiny close-up horror movies. Don't look at the bugs unless you REALLY want to get mad! There was a video on YouTube about this line of sight so I checked it out. Very short. watch the video He will teach you the basics of setting up and using the scope. The components overall look and feel like decent quality items. It feels sturdy and looks good. I also recommend taking a pair of 5x WideField eyepieces with you. Often a lower magnification will get you what you are looking for much faster than a larger one. The 5x eyepieces allow the minimum magnification to be reduced to 20x, which has proven very useful. Now for a couple of minuses: - The cross table quickly (within a week) began to work and play imprecisely. . Besides, he's not exactly sitting on stage. Because it doesn't stay on stage perfectly, it doesn't hold the slides well, and one day the slide actually got stuck under the mechanical table, which probably makes matters worse. I found that the washer used under the XY stage clamp screw didn't meet the specifications because it just didn't fit snugly in the hole, causing the XY stage to wobble noticeably. I installed a washing machine of the right size, which seems to have improved the situation to an acceptable level. I'm just aware of how fragile the setup really is. The 40x objective doesn't seem to be picking up enough light and the image appears a bit washed out when used with 20x eyepieces, but I understand that the optics falter at higher resolutions. show your shortcomings. It's probably unreasonable to expect much more than what Amscope offers at this price point. The 100x magnification when used with oil ensures good illumination and magnification even through 20x eyepieces. Impressive, but first check out the following. The immersion oil sent is wood oil. cedar or pine or something. If you are new to microscopy, discard this material. It's not worth the potential damage an unprepared hobbyist can cause if he/she forgets to clean the lens! Use synthetic oil. Good stuff smells like good engineering :) Cedarwood oil certainly smells good, but believe me, spend an extra $5 or $10 and buy a good synthetic immersion oil, even (or especially) if you only occasionally use the 1000x and Use 2000 times. . If cedarwood oil is caked on your lens, you will need a strong solvent to clean it. That's all. Good range. Happy with it. This is not a high-end oscilloscope, so handle it with care.
