Cool accessory for your switch dock. You can choose between 2 different plate designs and several different colors. The dock sits on top of the backlit base, and you plug your device into the USB port on the back of the Switch dock to power it up. This device also lights up when the Switch is powered off and the Switch console is not in the cradle. As long as the dock is connected to a power source and the dock's screen is connected to the dock via USB, it will turn on. There is also a stroboscopic light effect that quickly changes between all colors, which is mostly just for staging the harbor sign. The docking shield is likely to use very little power since it is connected to USB and the indicators are LEDs. Please note that the panels are supplied with anti-scratch film. You may have to use your fingernail to pry them off at the corners, but they will come off. The protective film is likely to prevent scratches and fingerprints during the manufacturing/packaging process. Overall this is a great device and it's pretty cheap. I paid about $16. This adds extra charm to the dock with or without the lights on. It is also an officially licensed product by Nintendo, which guarantees its quality.
