Ordered in mid-September 2017 and took a few minutes to read more reviews while waiting for delivery. I suppose like many others I was very disheartened to hear comments that the latest version doesn't allow you to remove the screen for a deep cleaning. It turns out that the new metal strainer can be easily removed and it makes a huge difference, what a really super tea maker (the best I've ever used!) This prevents the different tea portions I'm making from mixing up , disturbing each other (e.g. alternating between black and fruit tea cups). Removing the display case the first time takes a little more work than later disassemblies, but it's far from difficult. Begin by filling the interior about an inch with warm, soapy water (this will provide a small amount of lubrication). Gently wiggle your fingers on the center "pin" of the display case - slightly up and down, then left and right - and gently pull up. Presto, the display case will eventually be completely free. If this doesn't work right away, try brewing the tea a few times. Repeated heating and cooling plus some natural oils will likely make the above method a little easier to succeed. Replacing the strainer housing is as simple as gently rocking the filter housing back down. I found that it doesn't have to be pressed all the way to the bottom for it to work properly, and it makes it easier to take it off again (which I always do before a quick wash).
