Freeze PC in data storage

I write reviews when I have time or when I think it's something important that people should know about. In this case, it's the latter; I'm pretty sure this device was the direct (or indirect) cause of my computer freezing anywhere between 1-3 times a day for a month. I will explain in detail. I bought it along with another hard drive as I didn't have SATA ports on my motherboard and I need it to use the new drive. On the second day after installing both devices, my PC got stuck on the desktop after a few hours of use. The cursor didn't move, no BSOD, no input at all. This required a reboot. From now on this happens 1-2 times a day. It is varied. I work nights and if I leave my computer on all night I almost always come home and turn it off. I endured it for a month. Now I had to wonder if it was a new hard drive or a new controller since I installed both at the same time. I decided to use a different controller. I worked *9 days* on another SATA controller I bought and had *zero* freezes. I've already mentioned that the device is directly or indirectly causing the freezing and the reason I'm saying this is because I have no idea if reinstalling Windows 10 will fix the problem, but I didn't want to try it. It could have been some kind of driver conflict or something, or it had to do with my particular OS or PC installation, who knows. It could also be defective. In any case, after 9 days without freezing, it became obvious that the SATA controller was not working for me. I won't say whether to buy it or not so I'm giving it two stars. I'm just posting this for anyone who bought this controller and is having the exact same issues and don't know why. It's probably the device. If the freezing randomly continues even though I've removed the device, I'll update my review by noting it and changing the stars. I might as well add it later to another computer for testing and update my review with my results.

Pros
  • Connect four SATA drives and ONE M.2 B-Key SSD to any available PCI-E x4 slot for speeds up to 1700MB/s.
Cons
  • I don't really like it, everything is fine
