💾 Dynex USB External Floppy Drive DX-EF101 (1.44MB) Review

It came so quickly and I really needed it. This is a replacement for one that has stood for years. It only broke because a floppy disk broke inside, and I broke the floppy disk when I took it out. Reliable and great!

I forgot to rate it a few years ago when I bought this for my mum for Christmas. It did not work. The computer could see that something was plugged in, but it never showed up to read floppy disks (all its functions). Tried on 3 computers, nothing!

I ordered this product because it was advertised as WINDOWS 7 compatible. It came with an installation disc, but didn't have to be downloaded. I put the disk in and my files were displayed. When I clicked on the files, they did NOT open. I've tried a different disk. Same result. This product WILL NOT WORK IF YOU MANAGE WINDOWS 7. This product is USELESS to me. So much for "truth in advertising”.

I put it aside after receiving the delivery as I was busy with other things. Now when I tried to retrieve data from my old 3.5 floppy disks, I tried to insert the floppy but the floppy wouldn't go in. I checked the slot but nothing was blocking the opening. Too much time has passed to return it.

I don't know what to say other than the device worked as described. On a Windows 7 machine I was able to read 6 out of 7 disks. The disk was really old, so I was surprised he even read one of them. I will order from this seller again.

Like many people I have some old floppy disks and can't get to them. So I bought this. The only reason I gave it a 4 and not a 5 rating is because it didn't work properly when it was originally installed. It didn't recognize another drive without disconnecting and then reconnecting the drive. in. Finally, I turned off the computer, restarted it, and observed carefully after reconnecting the drive. He reinstalled the driver, I don't know why, and this time the PC seemed to have the exact drive…

I had to replace my old broken one and couldn't be happier. This device reads my floppy disks perfectly. The only complaint is that it's not fully compatible with Windows 8. It reads discs but cannot format or write to them. It will happen one day, but burning it to discs is a chore. It also tends to read blank discs as full. Since I've moved all of my data to a flash drive, I'm just glad to have one of these in case I ever need to read the disk again.
