VALUE Electronics for Computer Components

05/07/21 I have restored 3 Dell Optiplex towers from the city dump. I restored 1 and connected to the AT&T U-Verse via Ethernet and everything worked as expected, but I was unable to control the WIFI network. I later discovered a TP-Link WIFI USB adapter in an old XP computer that I kept in a closet. I bought TP-Link about 10 years ago and to my surprise it still works. I didn't run any benchmarks, but I didn't notice any drop in transfer speed between TP-LINK and Ethernet connection. To upgrade this DELL and get the best out of it, I bought a FebSmart 1200Mbps Wireless AC Dual Band PCI Module. Express Card (PCIe x1) Wi-Fi. It arrived on time (early April) and looked great. I couldn't install for 2 or 3 weeks. When I did that I installed this PCIEx1 card in a PCIEx16 slot and had to search for a driver to get it working. I haven't run any benchmark tests and I've been on this PC for about an hour since installing it 2 weeks ago. FebSmart had slower transfer rates than my old $10 TP-LINK USB. When I have time I will do a deeper review and update this review. However, I am very happy with the purchase. I opened a USB port with a PCIe x16 slot that I wasn't using. I would highly recommend this product, great value for money!
