Not quite round and flat
The locking nut was severely warped when screwed onto the spindle. I put a slab on the surface and sanded it until it matched the bearing preload nut. To achieve this I had to remove about 0.040 inch. There are also many sharp burrs at the ends of the thread. However, they worked!
