Review on 📷 Samyang SYXP85-C XP 85mm f/1.2 - High Speed Lens with AE Chip for Canon EF - Black by Dewey Galyon

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Satisfied with the results of the lenses

Samyang 85mm f/1.2 is great! The sharpness of this lens can only be matched by the Canon 85mm f/1.2. I use it with the new Canon R5 (with adapter) and it works great as an RF lens. The manual focus assist built into the R5 helped a lot! The Samyang 85mm f/1.2 has built-in firmware that makes it a native Canon lens. When I plugged it in and looked for it on the camera, I was able to take advantage of all the features that Canon has to offer with their lenses. Initially I had some problems with this lens. I focused well, but wanted the images to be sharper, especially wide open (because you buy this lens to shoot wide open). Then I started playing around with the software built into my Canon R5 and was able to find all the information about the Samyang lens. At first I was confused because the camera indicated that a Canon lens was attached to the camera. I checked the internet and found that the SP series has firmware to fix the camera! Having said that, I tested a few things and found that I can do the following with it: 1. Manual focus assist2. Auxiliary Beam Illumination (which allows you to emphasize the blue/red/yellow color around what's in focus)3. Red Assist Beam (which fires a red beam to determine the correct focal length)4. Chromatic Aberration Assist (to reduce chromatic aberration when shooting at f/1.2 wide open)5. low-noise features built into the camera (and many other features most reserved for RF lenses). For her! The level of detail you can get from this lens (particularly the ability to take advantage of all the other features built into the camera) puts this lens only second to the Canon 85mm f/1.2 RF (just because this lens is over features autofocus). and weather protection!), but the money difference you'll save compared to $2799 (and a few hundred more for the DS version) will be $699 and you'll go nuts and a Samyang 85mm f/1.4 RF with autofocus and weather shield for $699, Canon 24-105mm f/4 with autofocus, weather shield and image stabilization for $1099, or any Sigma lens you want and treat yourself to a very fine dining experience for about the same price , lol.
