Review on πŸ”§ Dorman 974-061 Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensor: Black for Select Models - Top-Notch Efficiency by Roger King

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Much cheaper than dealer

Have used Dorman products for many years. The retail price for an "OEM" TPM is approximately $78. It costs about $25 and I installed them in my 2 minivans. Usually they are immediately recognized by the computer and the tpms light on my instrument cluster goes out. If the light doesn't go out immediately, it will go out in a few kilometers. To update. Now I have 16 of these devices installed on my wife's hard drives and my large trailer. In winter we use studless ice tires mounted on separate rims. Saves me $160 swapping tires for rims for 2 large trailers (that's 8 rims x $20 tire swap). The only problem I had with these units was that the tire shop put my summer tires on new rims that I bought. He didn't check the tire pressures and the low pressure light on my regular one was on. When I got home I checked my tire pressure and found 2 low pressure tires. I just put air in the tires and the check engine light went out. The tire changer is to blame, not the dormant TPM.

Pros
  • Great value for money
Cons
  • Large and bulky
