Haven't used braided wire yet but I use Austor solder so it should be good. The suction cup performed really well compared to the blue and silver ones that usually come with cheap irons and stations and it completely removed a lot of solder from the switch in one go. Hasn't broken and I've fired it on 3 solder points, my wrist 4 times and dry fired 30 times, I doubt it will break like other reviewers. Update 3/26/21 The solder pump was full and had to be taken apart to clear the jam, normal and still works better than the silver blue I have.
