Wouldn't read my already formatted hard drive

Apparently this enclosure requires a disk format after installation and will not work with already formatted disks. Unfortunately, I wanted to use it to read my old laptop SSD after installing a new one. The seller was helpful when I contacted him but it didn't seem to work for my needs. When I put my old PM961 in there, Linux saw the drive type correctly but thought it was unformatted while Windows misread the drive's capacity.
