Faulty Ballast in Ignition Parts

So I'm a bit confused. I recently bought this ballast and have used it in my cars all the time. went to check everything and the ballast melted and everything bent to pieces so it started shorting out my headlights, not sure what caused it, never had any problems so far so just wanted to know why it's happening is
