Makes a robust and well-made impression. I have no idea .

Looks solid and is well made. I have no idea what the inner core behind the "metal" might be. Installed the shaft on a deck overlooking the ocean and set it up to pivot and took my house on a cruise. Used 1/2" zinc plated tubing for the axle, a short length of copper tubing on it and some large 7/8" (hole) zinc plated and neoprene washers on both sides and oiled it up!
