The perfect filter. I used one for the entire winter season last year and it lasted (about 5 months!). So obviously this year I bought the same one again and expected the same result. I use a bacteriostatic humidifier treatment at about 1.5 times the recommended amount per gallon. This leads to more discoloration of the filter, but keeps the water tank clean. I remember washing the filter 3 times a month apart last year and it held up great through the wash. While not recommended, I used a 10:1 solution of water and bleach to clean the filter and soaked it in cold water in the sink for about 10 minutes. It loosened and moved a lot of crap, especially cat hair, which recedes over time.
