I have tried different types of twisted polypropylene filters to capture sand from my borehole. Sand is clogging the filter on the faucet in my downstairs bathroom. None of them worked properly: the faucet was often clogged within minutes of use, even with new filters that were claimed to work to within 1 micron. I later read that almost every cellulose filter outperforms spunbond filters because it's easier to manufacture with the same hole size (more particles of the specified size are caught). They work great. I've had them for about a year (double filter) and just replaced them. It is extremely rare that the faucet filter needs to be flushed. I don't see the filter mold problem that others have, so I think it depends on the characteristics of your well water.
