This is a high quality foam. It has a slightly grippy finish so it really stays on the finished wood (or in the case). We use this on the futon's bare slats, on the seat bottom, to improve the comfort of the futon when used as a sofa. Our futon is perfect for this and the grippy texture keeps the cushion under the futon. (The futon mattress is really only for kids when guests are using their room, so this pillow makes the futon a great super comfy sofa. Overall the high quality foam was just the right size to upgrade our futon without having to buy one heavier futon mattress. I just wish I could sew,
