Review on πŸ”Œ LandingZone Docking Station for 13-inch MacBook Pro A1708 (2016-2018) - 2 USB-C Ports, No Touch Bar by Steven Darkshnar

Revainrating 2 out of 5

If it works, it's great. Unfortunately, it's buggy as hell.

My rating is based on my employer buying this for me and it works with two HD HDMI monitors and leaving the 13" MBP underneath open to support three monitors. Three repeated crashes with no apparent solution and they're really driving me nuts. 1. One of the HDMI ports randomly stopped working, it happens probably 2 times a week. Sometimes when downloading or re-docking, sometimes while running. Phew, black screen. Tried all the obvious, switching cables, turning the power cycle, restarting Mac, etc. It usually comes back, but sometimes it can be gone for an hour. The worst thing is that Mac sees it as a monitor, it just doesn't show up, so all files on that working desktop or open Windows files are invisible now. 2. My Mac won't turn on or charge for no reason about 20% of the time. I look at my battery monitor and it's not charging. Not the best work situation, especially when my power cord is in the home office. Because of this docking station, they simply chose not to charge.3. About 50% of the time after a reboot, re-dock, or first morning activity, the left and right monitors are flipped, meaning I have to move the mouse cursor to the left for it to appear on the right, and vice versa. Constantly going to the system settings to rearrange the monitors is an annoying step. When I type this it works great but this morning the right monitor was dark on boot. Very temperamental, especially for a high price. Emptor caveat.
