When we received our first Ovente kettle we loved it for its style and auto shut off feature. It suited our needs perfectly and we were very satisfied. Unfortunately, over time the durability of this product has become questionable at best, and not an issue as of late. My wife ordered our first Ovente teapot (black) in March 2014. , It stopped working after 3.5 years - never turned on again. In mid-August 2017 I ordered our second one (green). it does not switch off automatically and therefore does not run dry when not observed. I ordered our third (orange) at the end of January 2019. After 6 days of use it stopped working - the top latched but wasn't all the way down, resulting in it not turning off more often than it does. It does start, but not completely, and I've found through experimentation that if pressed lightly with a finger and completely covering the top, it will turn off if it doesn't turn off on a simmer. So three Ovente kettles that were only in use for an average of 19 months before they stopped working. That 19-month number might seem unfair given the different lifespans of the three kettles, but if you've bought something you liked three times and chalked it up to a one-off problem, then on your third purchase you'll probably do the same see the big picture. .I am disappointed that this product does not last long, especially as my own experience with it has shown a significant reduction in the durability of this product. I cannot recommend and even feel responsible for buying an Ovente kettle. , based on my own experience, warning others not to buy this product due to its short lifespan. You are literally throwing money away, whether over time or in a very short time frame. Will try to return this last one for credit and explore other auto shut off kettles
