I have a very tall but very skinny 5 year old which makes it difficult for him to shop for clothes. Everything sits on it like a crop top or a circus tent. I was afraid that if I order one size for 5-6 years, it will be too short and ineffective in keeping warm. I got the jacket sized for a 7-8 year old and it worked out pretty well. There isn't much extra space in the upper body area. The jacket is long enough to be a few inches below the waist. The arms are also long enough that he can tuck his hands into the sleeves, but not so long that he can't stick them out when he needs his arms. The hood covers the head and ears well. The fur is still a bit all over the place and gets in his eyes occasionally, but I think it will soften with some wear.
