Make sure to use the coffee filter and insert the lid while the coffee is dripping.
I read some bad reviews about this coffee pot before ordering it. I've read that the water is flowing straight and doesn't make good coffee. I used my coffee pot with the coffee filter in place and you should definitely use the inset lid when dripping water through the pot to make coffee. I used 8 tablespoons of coffee and half a pot of hot boiling water. It made great tasting coffee. I love the beautiful shiny stainless steel pot.
