This is a disappointment! Almost everyone loves this shelf. However, I've usually done this with one major problem: the stand is angled 100-115 degrees toward the rear of the car, making it impossible to attach a second bike without a handlebar wrapped around the rear window of my 2017 Kia Sedona van . CRAZY. But to make things easier I was about to buy a 7 inch hitch extension to get the bikes farther away from the window. The problem is solved. BUT. It wasn't until my second local outing (within 20 miles of my house) on my bike that the locking knob came loose, spinning freely and did NOT turn the bolt. I had to disassemble my bike to get it out from under the arm holding it and luckily I didn't have a second bike. Why luck? Because the broken grip is on the shoulder and the forearm is holding the second bike and locking that second bike at the bottom contact point. The upper hand holds the lower hand. I would have to cut the metal to take it off to get a second bike for free. Problem. PLASTIC. NEVER should there be anything made of plastic that needs to be tightened and fastened. This means all of these racks will be removed or rotted within 2 years as the plastic is so open to the environment and is a key point in bike use/protection. road guarantee. At this point, thanks to this thing's thoughtful design (minus the silly tilt), the stand feels great and people are giving great reviews. Later they will not be so happy. Disappointing to say the least. This rack is well designed (no tilt) but poorly constructed.
